Scarborough Sanitary District - Scarborough, Maine

Scarborough Sanitary District - Our Future

The Scarborough Sanitary District over the last several years has upgraded the wastewater treatment facility's capacity from 1.8 million gallons a day (MGD) to 2.5 MGD, upgraded and/or rebuilt all of its 23 pump stations. We continue to work with the Town and developers to provide for the safe and efficient collection, conveyance and treatment of wastewater. The District provides wastewater services that promote economic growth as outlined in the Town's Comprehensive Plan.

The District welcomes residents and especially students to visit the treatment facility and take a tour to see how the wastewater is treated and the sludge is composted into a useful product.
